The Numb Heart

The Numb Heart has depths of feeling that most people never see. She had to learn to hide them. Somewhere along the way she was told she was too much, too sensitive, too emotional. So she built walls and locked her heart in an ice box. She learnt to tell people she was fine because that made them comfortable. "Do not make it all about you!" She has heard this so many times and now she tells herself "I am a burden and I must control my emotions." But she cannot keep burying her emotions. They did not disappear. They press at the edges of everything, threatening to burst free. She ignores them but her body feels it through pain and fatigue, her body feels heavy and even breathing feels like an effort.
She is the dependable friend, warm and generous with everyone around her, the one who holds space for others while keeping her own inner world locked tightly away. In her relationships she is present and yet somehow unreachable, kind and yet disconnected, longing to be truly known and convinced it is safer not to be. She gives endlessly from a place of love and an unspoken fear of abandonment.
Healing doesn't mean you need to be fixed, you are not broken! You need to release. release the emotions you keep pushed down. release the fears that you think are keeping you safe. release the belief that you are a burden. Reconnecting with your emotions can seem overwhelming, but when you approach yourself with love and compassion anything is possible!

When your heart is numb, words can feel like a foreign language.
Gently wake up the frozen parts of you through creativity, embodiment, and safe emotional expression. Learn how to BE, to breathe, to move, to colour outside the lines and think outside the box. You don't need to keep yourself bottled up.
Focus on creating for the joy of it, for the emotional release, for the pleasure. Not for perfection! Let go of the idea that you need to be perfect before you start. Now you can just begin! Exploring your creative side in a safe container, where you feel held, seen and heard. This is where the concept of imperfection begins to make sense.
Give yourself permission. Permission to feel. Permission to want. Permission to make noise, take up space, and exist in all your rawness. This is how you begin to thaw the ice around your heart.

Learn to love yourself for who you are, not for what you can do. Feel free to be yourself.
Reclaim your worth, even when you feel empty.
Learn to meet yourself with love instead of shame.
Learn to stop judging and rejecting yourself.
You were taught that being imperfect meant that you are not worthy of love, that being tired was laziness and if you aren't constantly doing things you are a failure. All of these are lies! Yes, the lies kept you going, you accomplished a lot, but you don't feel fulfilled. Let's change that!
Self care and filling up your own cup are not selfish behaviours. In fact, they allow you to expand your capacity for love, improving your relationships with yourself and others. Therefore, creating emotional stability.
You are lovable even when you're low. You are valuable even when you're still. You are whole, even when you feel broken.
It's time to stop fearing your feelings and start trusting that your body, your emotions, and your inner world have wisdom worth listening to.
